Dubai: Soon after the Government announced the granting of freehold status of residential property to foreign nationals, mortgage plans were introduced for those wishing to purchase. This was a first for the region and a further indication of Dubai’s seriousness in encouraging foreign investment in real estate.
The maximum mortgage granted is DH5.5 million and financing companies offer up to 90% of the purchase price on valuation to UAE Nationals, and up to 80% to GCC and Foreign Nationals.
Mortgages must be paid back in monthly instalments, within a maximum of 25 years, and rates are comparable to international norms. The mortgate amount depends on the chosen mortgage plan and is limited to an amount no greater than 60 times the monthly household (both husband and wife’s income).
